After years of salivating, wishful thinking and, for some, praying, residents of the northwest side and Marana will finally get their own Chick-fil-A restaurant.

The restaurant, being built in front of Target on the corner of West Ina and North Thornydale roads, is expected to open in late September, said Jim Paine, the franchisee for Chick-fil-A at 4585 N. Oracle Road.

That restaurant, located across the street from the Tucson Mall, is the closest Chick-fil-A for northwest-side residents. Chick-fil-A has four Tucson locations including one on the University of Arizona campus.

Paine said a construction fence is already up and workers are digging the trenches to begin construction on the Ina-Thornydale location. Georgia-based Chick-fil-A will name a franchise operator once construction is finished, Paine said.
