• Tanque Verde Ranch and Miraval Resort & Spa: The two Tucson resorts ranked first and second, respectively, in Condรฉ Nast Travelerโ€™s annual Readersโ€™ Choice Awards in the (oddly named) category of โ€œBest Resorts in Texas & the American Southwest.โ€ Tanque Verde Ranch also ranked in the โ€œ10 Best Resorts in the United Statesโ€ category, at No. 8. The 2016 awards, announced Tuesday, will be featured in the magazineโ€™s November issue.
  • Sun Corridor Inc.: The local economic development agency received a Golden Prospector Award from the Arizona Association for Economic Development for โ€œDeal of the Year.โ€ Sun Corridor Inc. was honored for its work on the relocation to Tucson of the Caterpillar Surface Mining & Technology Divisionโ€™s regional headquarters.
  • Sandy F. Mellor: Mellor, director of community relations at Sinfonรญa HealthCare Corp., has been selected for inclusion in the Trademark Women of Distinction Honors Edition for โ€œdedication, leadership and professional excellence.โ€
  • Angie Garcia Lathrop: Lathrop, a Tucson native and a graduate of the University of Arizona with a bachelorโ€™s degree and a law degree, has been named the 2016 Corporate Advocate of the Year by the United States Hispanic Chamber of Commerce. She is a community affairs executive at Bank of America in Washington, D.C.
  • Frank Porreca: Porreca, associate head of the Pharmacology Department at the University of Arizona College of Medicine โ€“ Tucson, has been honored by the International Association for the Study of Pain with its Ronald Melzack Lecture Award.
  • Better Business Bureau of Southern Arizona: The BBB announces that, as part of the 2017 Torch Awards, it is introducing the Spark Award, which celebrates successful millennials in Southern Arizona.
