  • Cano, special staff assistant to Pima County Supervisor Richard ElΓ­as, has been named the 2016 Gabe Zimmerman Public Service Awards Emerging Leader. The award, named for a local congressional aide who was killed on Jan. 8, 2011, β€œThe Emerging Leader award recognizes a public servant with the potential to have an impact on Arizona’s future for generations and who does so with constituent-centric attitude illustrated through energy, compassion, and modeling behavior for other young leaders to follow,” said Lattie F. Coor, chairman and CEO of the Center for the Future of Arizona, which gives the award, in a news release.
  • Matt Zelones:
  • Zelones, manager of Boston’s Restaurant & Sports Bar of Marana, was recently awarded the Boston’s Pizza Foundation National Charity Promotion Award for the restaurant’s commitment to supporting youths in Marana and surrounding areas. The award recognizes the restaurant within the chain that raised the most money last year for No Kid Hungry.
  • Sue Cartun:
  • Cartun, a Realtor with the Tucson Association of Realtors, has been named to the Hall of Fame of the National Association of Realtors Political Action Committee, for investing at least $25,000. Cartun is operations manager and designated broker for Keller Williams Southern Arizona.
  • Dr. Christopher Maloney Jr.:
  • Maloney, of Maloney Plastic Surgery & Skincare, was again selected as a Castle Connolly Top Doctor in the specialty of plastic surgery. Also, he has been asked by the American Board of Plastic Surgeons in Arizona to sit as a board examiner this fall.
  • Northwest Fire District:
  • The district received the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting from the Government Finance Officers Association for the ninth year in a row.
