Words can say so much. And not so much.

In Winding Road Theatre Ensemble’s “The Language Archive,” the scholar George loves language. Yet he is at a loss when it comes to expressing his feelings.

Here’s a primer:

The story

George is immersed in the study of language; he longs to preserve the ones that are slipping away. He wants to study an elderly couple who are the last two speakers of a language. Trouble is, they argue all the time, and they do it in English.

Meanwhile, George is flummoxed by his wife’s unhappiness. Frustrated with his obtuseness, she leaves him. George cannot find the words to express that loss.

The Winding Road production

Susan Arnold directs, and Seonaid Barngrover, Leslie J Miller, Gabe Nagy, Roger Owen and Peg Peterson make up the cast.
