Tumamoc Hill

Renee Ramirez, left and Blanca De La Rosa walk up the first stretch of Tumamoc Hill as Ramirez pushes her daughter, Quetzali Castorena, 3, in the stroller. The women say they try to come at least once a week and they take turns pushing the stroller up the 1.5 mile hill.

The turkey is nothing more than a carcass, the pie is poked to crumbs and that decadently rich gravy poured generously β€” too generously! β€” over the mashed potatoes and stuffing is, sadly, only a memory.

Now what?

Here’s a thought: Get off the couch and get walking.

We sent Kristen Cook and Cathalena E. Burch to the well worn paths of two popular hiking trails: Sabino Canyon and Tumamoc Hill.

Cook jumped on the Sabino Canyon trail, which can be a calorie-burner if you push yourself β€” she’s not really into that β€” or simply a lovely nature walk with the added benefit of a cardio workout β€” that’s more her speed.

Burch tackled Tumamoc Hill, which is equally resplendent in its natural beauty. Too bad she didn’t take time to smell the cactus: She was too busy trying to catch her breath as the winding, paved road arched steeper with every step.

Tag along and decide which fits your idea of an after-Thanksgiving-stroll.
