Mukhi Singh, the chef-owner of the popular Twisted Tandoor Indian food truck, died Friday morning after suffering an apparent heart attack. He was 52.

His widow and business partner Roop Singh said Singh was bringing stuff into the couple's restaurant at 427 E. Limberlost Drive Thursday morning when he collapsed. The attack occurred just two hours before the couple was set to open the restaurant to the public.

Roop Singh said those plans are now on hold for two or three weeks.

Mukhi Singh was born in Secunderabad, India, and moved to the United States 15 years ago. He and his wife, who were married in 1989, moved to Tucson in 2001 and launched the Twisted Tandoor food truck 2 1/2 years ago.

In addition to his wife, Singh is survived by his daughter, Shireen, a University of Arizona student.
