Carly Rae Jepsen, shown with boyfriend David Kalani Larkins, headlines the 93.7 KRQ Christmas in Tucson concert Wednesday, Dec. 2, at the Fox.

Canadian pop singer Carly Rae Jepsen will help Tucson get in the Christmas spirit when she headlines 93.7 KRQ’s β€œChristmas in Tucson” concert Wednesday, Dec. 2, at Fox Tucson Theatre.

We’re not sure if she will lead the audience in a round of caroling but you can be sure that Jepsen will pull out her multiplatinum hit single β€œCall Me Maybe.”

She also has a new album, her months-old β€œEmotion,” which is garnering critical acclaim. Spin magazine called the single β€œRun Away with Me” β€œthe best pop song of 2015 yet,” β€œan undeniable hit waiting in the wings for its moment” and a β€œbig, bold, beautiful masterpiece.”

Then there’s the video for the album’s lead-off single “I Really Like You,” which features Tom Hanks. (See it at tucson.com/calientetunedin — it’s hilarious!) The song is a throwback to the days when pop music was uncluttered with deep thoughts. Its message is simple: “I really really really really really really like you / And I want you, do you want me, do you want me, too?”

β€œEmotion” is Jepsen’s third album in a career that started with the British Columbia-born singer-songwriterβ€˜s debut album β€œTug of War” in 2008. That was a year after Jepsen, 30, placed third in season five of β€œCanadian Idol” β€” think β€œAmerican Idol” up north.

Pop newcomer Daya opens the show at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday.
