XIXA, Tucson’s pre-eminent cumbia rock band, usually plays the iconic Club Congress in the historic Hotel Congress downtown.

But the band’s Nov. 26 show presented by Arizona Arts Live is being held at Tucson’s newest concert venue La Rosa.

The venue, slated to open in early October, is hosting a number of concerts as a way to introduce itself.

La Rosa, located in the former Benedictine Monastery on North Country Club Road, is the brainchild of former Hotel Congress entertainment director David Slutes and Phoenix entertainment visionary Charlie Levy. The venue seats 450 and has events already booked through year’s end and into 2026.

The venue unofficially opens Oct. 8 with “Kick the Tires,” a country/Americana concert headlined by country singer Dale Watson and Tucson country singer-songwriter Drew Cooper. Orkesta Mendoza officially opens the hall Oct. 10.

La Rosa is collaborating with a number of Tucson arts groups to co-present events, including the concert with indie rockers DeVotchKa on Nov. 1 that’s co-presented with Rialto Theatre and Arizona Arts Live.

Also coming up: Tucson desert rock legend Calexico plays three shows Oct. 16-18; Oregon indie-folk band Blind Pilot is here Oct. 24; legendary investigative reporter Carl Bernstein is spilling his guts on Nov. 2; and singer-songwriter Pete Yorn is bringing his “Very Special Evening With” to La Rosa on Dec. 12.

For tickets and details, visit La Rosa at larosatucson.com.

The 2025 fall arts season also includes the much-anticipated return of indie rocker and former Tucsonan Neko Case to the Rialto Theatre in early November; big-name comedians Kevin Hart (the AVA at Casino del Sol) in October and Jo Koy (at Tucson Arena) in November; and hit Broadway shows “& Juliet” in late October and the holiday classic “Dr. Seuss’ How the Grinch Stole Christmas! The Musical’ “ in November, both at Centennial Hall.

This list is pretty inclusive of nearly everything happening on Tucson stages and galleries this fall, but things are known to change and promoters and venues may have added events after our deadline. So do yourself a favor and check with the venue for any changes.
