The Ahmadiyya Muslim Community will celebrate Eid al-Adha 9 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 24 with a sermon at the Yousuf Mosque, 250 W. Speedway, according to press materials.

Known as the Feast of Sacrifice, the holiday today coincides with the hajj pilgrimage Muslims make to Mecca and honors the readiness of Ibrahim (or Abraham of Christian and Jewish traditions) to sacrifice his son and obey God.

The Islamic Center of Tucson, 901 E. First St., will host a lecture about the holiday 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 23 and community members will come together to break their fast, according to a Facebook event.
