Pima for Kids

Children can learn how to create Minecraft characters and skins during Pima for Kids’ Minecraft Designer summer camp. But that’s just one of many one-week camps. Half-day and full-day sessions are available.

Pima Community College isn’t just for grown-ups.

In fact, the school has a whole catalogue dedicated to its Pima for Kids summer camps for children ages 5-12 and teens ages 13-17.

This summer’s programming includes favorites such as cooking and forensics and new classes such as Architect Jr., App Attack, Minecraft Animators, Joy of Coding, Theatre, Space Camp and Renewable Energy.

Teen Scene camps include Zombie Apocalypse, Filmmaking with iPad and Elements of Babysitting, among others.

Each camp is one week long and runs a half day, either from 8 a.m. to noon or 1-5 p.m. Full-day camps are also available.

Go online to pima.edu, click on “Credits and Courses,” then “Non-credit Courses” to find a catalogue and to register.

This is just one of many summer programs offered to kids and teens in Tucson in a variety of subjects, from arts to science to sports.

If you’re with an organization that will host a summer camp, it’s not too late to enter your info in the Star’s summer program list.

See the adjacent info box for a step-by-step guide on how to list your program — and how to search for others — in our online database and calendar.
