The supplies you will need to make sugar scrub: Refined sugar, sugar in the raw, extra light olive oil (extra light will not smell too much like olives), essential oils for scent, 8-ounce mason jars, a half-cup measuring cup, bowl and spoon, decorative fabric for the jar tops.

Refined sugar is the stuff you use every day in your sugar bowl. The store brand of olive oil will work fine. Sugar in the raw is more coarse and will give your skin a bit of polish. It is also a nice golden color that will make the final product a perfect color for a holiday gift. We used a lavender essential oil.

Pour in olive oil a bit at a time and stir, adding more oil in small amounts, until you get a consistency you like. You don't want so much oil that there is a layer on the top, but you'll need enough so that the sugar isn't lumpy.

As the scrub sits in the jar, the oil rises to the top. Advise the lucky recipient to stir the scrub before scooping some to rub on his or her skin. Sugar scrub is especially nice to use on hands and feet.
