The 1875 pictures, in walnut frames, tell a story of children trying to persuade a stubborn donkey to pull their cart. Mrs. Bischoff found them in an attack at a sale, like she did many of her antiques. The bed lamp is called "end of the day" pattern, from the fact that it is colored with all the paints left over at the day's close.
