A pedestrian was killed after being struck by a vehicle near the 5500 block of North Oracle Road on Friday night, authorities said.

When Northwest firefighters responded to the scene at 11:40 p.m., an adult male was found in the southbound travel lanes on Oracle Road near West Kanmar Place.

Authorities pronounced the pedestrian dead at the scene, said Cpt. Brian Keeley, a Northwest Fire District spokesman.

The driver remained at the scene and did not sustain injuries in the collision.

Arizona Department of Public Safety identified the pedestrian as David Nash, a 59-year-old Tucson resident.

The department's investigation is ongoing.
