A 66-year-old man was killed Saturday night when he was struck by an SUV, Marana police say.
Robert Penland was struck about 7:15 p.m. while he was in the southbound lane of North Thornydale Road, just north of West Ina Road, police said Tuesaday in a news release.
Penland, who was not in a crosswalk, died at the crash scene, the release said.
The driver of the 2005 Lincoln Navigator that struck Penland stayed at the scene and cooperated in the investigation, the release said.
Neither speed nor impairment are believed to be factors in the crash, which still is being investigated, the release said.
