A 62-year-old man died Sunday after Tucson police say he lost control of the car he was driving on the city's southeast side and smashed into a tree.
Terry McCray was driving a white 2004 Ford Crown Victoria about 4:30 p.m. on East Golf Links Road near South Camino Seco when the car began to swerve and eventually hit a tree in the median, police said in a news release.
Despite life-saving efforts by police and Tucson Fire, McCray was pronounced dead at the crash scene, the release said.
McCray was not wearing his seatbelt and did not have a valid driver’s license, the release said.
Detectives are still trying to determine what caused the vehicle to swerve prior to the crash, the release said. The investigation continues.
