What: Benโ€™s Bells promote kindness and community involvement. Each week a person who makes Tucson better is โ€œbelled.โ€

Last weekโ€™s recipient: Tom Litwicki.

Nominated by: City Councilman Richard Fimbres.

Why: For his work as CEO of Old Pueblo Community Services and his continued support of the Tucson Homeless Work Program. Through Litwickiโ€™s leadership, Old Pueblo Community Services has become one of the most innovate nonprofits focusing on issues of homelessness and prison re-entry, Fimbres wrote in his nomination letter. โ€œTom has been diligent in his work to treat everyone with dignity in their efforts to reintegrate into society. OPCS takes from Tom a kind demeanor to meet people where they are in order to address their needs,โ€ Fimbres wrote. Litwicki has been a supporter of the homeless work program, which offers homeless residents daily work and access to social services. With Litwickiโ€™s help, the program has been expanded to include homeless women, Fimbres wrote.
