A man killed early Saturday, after he was struck by a car after leaving Desert Diamond Casino, has been identified as 35-year-old Carlos Flores, according to a news release from the Pima County Sheriff's Department.Β

Pima County sheriff’s deputies were called to the casino, located at 7350 S. Nogales Highway, at around 3 a.m., to reports of a pedestrian who had been struck by a car, said department spokesman Deputy Cody Gress.

Flores was pronounced dead at the scene.Β

Witnesses told detectives that Flores was seen leaving the casino when a vehicle traveling northbound on South Nogales Highway struck him, Gress said.

The driver, 19-year-old Miguel Cano, stayed at the scene and was cooperative with detectives. Speed and alcohol don’t appear to be factors, Gress said.

Southbound Nogales Highway was closed to traffic at East Los Reales Road for several hours while detectives investigated and cleared the scene.

The investigation is ongoing.Β
