STK emergency

A 34-year-old motorcyclist was killed and a 66-year-old driver was injured in a crash late Tuesday morning in midtown, Tucson police say.

The crash happened about 11:45 a.m. when Robby Gordon Bowden, 34, was riding a 2023 Suzuki GSR-S750 north on North Craycroft Road and collided with a Honda CR-V that was crossing Craycroft westbound from East Rosewood Street, a neighborhood street just south of East Speedway, Tucson police said Wednesday in a news release.

Bowden died at the hospital. The unidentified 66-year-old woman in the Honda was hospitalized with serious injuries, the release said.

Investigators say the motorcyclist was "traveling well above the speed limit and riding in a reckless manner," prior to the crash. Bowden was wearing a helmet and had the proper motorcycle endorsement on his driverโ€™s license. Investigators also noted the Honda driver failed to yield from a stop sign, the release said.

The investigation continues.
