A 17-year-old girl was killed early Friday when the car she as riding slammed into a wall on Tucson's south side, authorities say.

The crash happened about 4:30 a.m. on East Summit Street, east of South Nogales Highway, the Pima County Sheriff's Department said in a news release.

The department did not identify the girl.

Investigators say the unidentified driver was headed east on Summit Street when the vehicle left the road, hit a block wall and rolled onto its passenger side.

The driver was taken to the hospital with injuries deemed not life-threatening, the release said.

The crash still is being investigated, but speed, impairment and lack of seatbelt use are suspected contributing factors, the release said.
