A 57-year-old man believed to have been in a "crouched position" in a traffic lane was struck and killed Wednesday night, Tucson police say.
Dale Anthony Lauzon was in a westbound lane of East Aviation Highway, north of South Kino Parkway, about 8:40 p.m when he was struck by a vehicle, Tucson police said in a news release.
It appears Lauzon "was most likely stationary and in a crouched position in the westbound lanes," the release said. He died at the crash scene.
The unidentified 54-year-old driver of the 2018 Kia Soul that struck Lauzon was not injured. The driver stopped immediately and was later cleared in a check for impairment, the release said.
The section of Aviation where the crash occurred is lined with fencing to help deter pedestrians and streetlights along the road were operational, the release said.
The investigation continues.
