A Tucson man was  injured Monday in a rock climbing accident in Flagstaff, officials say.

The Coconino County Sheriff's Office responded to a call for help near Oak Creek Vista shortly after 1 p.m., the sheriff's office said in a news release.

The climber, 57, sustained a back injury after falling roughly 20 feet at the end of his rappel, the release said. Because of the man's location, along with his injuries, a search and rescue team used a rope system to help get him to safety.

The man was eventually raised to the top of the canyon and taken to a hospital in Flagstaff, the release says.

His name was not released.
