Two people were injured and three dogs and a cat died in an early morning house fire on Tucson's southeast side, authorities say.
Fire crews were called about 1 a.m. to a house in the 7200 block of East Toronto Street and found a man using a garden hose to try to put out the flames, said Shelle Jackson, a Tucson Fire spokesperson.
The man was taken to a hospital to treat burns, Jackson said.
A second man was pulled from inside the house near South Kolb and East Stella roads. He also was taken to the hospital.
A fourth dog in the house survived.
The cause of the blaze was still being investigated Friday, but damage resulted in the house being condemned, Jackson said.
