Halloween could send a few weather-related chills up your spine, at least here in the Tucson area.

The National Weather Service in Tucson issued a weather alert Wednesday for the metro region predicting a significant cool, dry storm system’s arrival late Sunday through Thursday.

The system is set to usher in the chilliest low temperatures of the season thus far, according to the weather service.

Tucson’s low temperatures could be 52 degrees on Sunday and 47 on Monday. By Tuesday, trick-or-treaters out on Halloween night can expect temperatures as low as 44 degrees, the weather service says.

Regions known for their cold snaps, like Willcox, are in for a potentially frosty Halloween morning. There’s a 90% chance of the area hitting, or falling below 32 degrees on Tuesday.

Wednesday morning may bring similar low temperatures in Willcox and surrounding areas, with about a 30% likelihood of reaching or dipping below 26 degrees.

Thursday looks to continue the cooling trend, with temperatures in the Tucson area maxing out at a seasonably appropriate high of 81 degrees and a low of 52. That morning could also bring a below-freezing cold snap to Cochise County eastern areas of Pima County, with the weather service setting those odds at 50/50.
