A 28-year-old has died two days after being struck by a car while crossing North Oracle Road on Tucson's north side, Tucson police say.

Diego Cavazos was struck about 9:30 p.m. Tuesday while crossing Oracle just south of West Prince Road, Tucson police said Thursday evening in a news release.

Police were told Thursday morning that Cavazos died at the hospital.

Cavazos was crossing mid-intersection when police say he was struck by a driver headed south on Oracle.

The driver, 33, stopped immediately and cooperated with police. He was not impaired and no charges have been filed.

Cavazos "had drugs in his system at the time of the collision," and was neither in a crosswalk nor unmarked crosswalk when he was struck, the news release said.

The investigation continues.
