The Arizona Dept. of Transportation Motor Vehicle Division offers three additional specialty license plates. MVD now offers 101 options.

Arizona drivers now have 101 different license plate options to choose from now that the state has added three new specialty plates, officials said.

The new specialty plates, dubbed β€œEmpower”, β€œIn Loving Memory” and β€œState Forty Eight” will all have a portion of their sales go toward supporting charitable causes, the Arizona Department of Transportation said Thursday in a news release.

β€œSpecialty license plates offer a great way to customize a vehicle and show your proud support for one of these uniquely Arizona organizations,” said Eric Jorgensen, director of the state’s Motor Vehicle Department said in the release. β€œMVD is pleased to offer the various plates that will have an impact for the organizations dedicated to improving Arizona and our communities.”

Like most specialty plates, the new choices will each be priced at $25 a year, with $17 of each plate going to the designated charity or nonprofit organization associated with the plate, according to the news release. Personalization costs another $25 annually.

$17 of every "Empower" license plate purchased goes to the Empower Coalition, a Tucson-based nonprofit that supports veterans and their families in need of help.

Empower

The β€œEmpower” plate will support the Empower Coalition, a Tucson-based nonprofit that supports veterans and their families in need of help. Jim Storey, founder and CEO of the group, says that these plates will support the heroes who need it most.

For those of you that purchase the license plate, not only will it look fantastic on your vehicle, but most importantly, the proceeds will go to those who need it the most,” he said Thursday in a written statement. β€œ[O]n behalf of the members of Empower Coalition, thank you to everyone who has and continues to serve our country.”

$17 of every "In Loving Memory" license plate purchased goes to Billy's Place, Inc., a Glendale-based nonprofit organization that provides services to children and their families who are experiencing grief.

In Loving Memory

Proceeds from the β€œIn Loving Memory will go to Billy’s Place, Inc., a Glendale-based nonprofit organization founded in 2013 that β€œprovides comfort and companionship to kids and families experiencing grief,” according to the organization’s website.

β€œBilly’s Place is a safe community for kids and families experiencing grief, where, as one dad said, families go β€œfrom broken, to hopeful, to providing hope,” said executive director of Billy’s Place, Kris Friedman.

β€œWhen someone purchases the β€œIn Loving Memory” license plate they are helping support hundreds of thousands of kids and families throughout Arizona who have experienced the death of a parent, sibling, child, or another special person,” she said.

$17 of every "State Forty Eight" license plate purchase will go to the State Forty Eight Foundation.

State Forty Eight

A β€œState Forty Eight” license plate purchase will go to the State Forty Eight Foundation, a Chandler-based organization aimed to support entrepreneurs and small-business owners by providing free access to resources and education, as well as grant funding.

β€œ[W]e took on the challenge of educating our representatives about who we are and the substantial impact we have across the state,” said Zach Hall, president of the foundation’s board of directors. β€œWith every license plate purchased, the community is providing access to essential resources and grant funding for small business owners in Arizona.”
