Classmate recognized for being supportive of fellow student

Why: Salmon was nominated by her former classmate at University High School. The two friends first met in sixth-grade at Doolen Middle School. In high school, Salmon helped Schildt get through a difficult period when he struggled with depression, according to his nomination letter. Schildt said Salmon was always there for him, getting him to laugh and offering consistent support. “She is one of the kindest and most selfless people, putting others before herself at all times,” Schildt wrote.
