Casie Boling-Mendola, center with bell, poses for a picture with her family and Amanda Conniff, second from left. Boling-Mendola invited Conniff to live with her in a time of need.

What: Ben’s Bells promote kindness and community involvement. Each week a person who makes Tucson better is “belled.”

Last week’s recipient: Casie Boling-Mendola

Nominated by: Amanda Conniff

Why: For helping out Conniff in her time of need. “I was 1,700 miles from home with no family, no friends, no money, no home and no job,” Conniff wrote. “Without hesitation, Casie called me and said, ‘Come home and live with us.’” With Boling-Mendola’s help, Conniff said she has slowly rebuilt her life after a traumatic experience. “She is that person who has reminded me that there is still hope and that there are still good people who really do care.”
