A man was busted walking into Arizona at the Nogales border crossing with a half-pound package of marijuana stuffed into his pants, officials said.
The arrest of Ivan Octavio Romero-Aragon, 22, was one of three separate "body carrier" busts this month by officers working in Nogales, a U.S. Customs and Border Protection news release Wednesday said.
Romero-Aragon, a U.S. citizen living in Sonora, was searched Oct. 9, after a drug dog alerted on his pants, the release said. Officers found about eight ounces of marijuana stuffed into his crotch. The pot was worth about $200.
Meanwhile, two teen girls were apprehended in separate incidents a day later after border officers say they found methamphetamine hidden under their clothes.
In the first Oct. 10 incident, a 15-year-old Nogales girl was searched when she entered Arizona through a pedestrian lane after a drug dog alerted on her clothing. Officers say they found just over than a pound of methamphetamine, the release said. The methamphetamine was valued at more than $3,100.
On the same day, a 16-year-old girl was searched under the same circumstances. Officer found nearly a pound of methamphetamine on her, the release said. The methamphetamine was valued at a little more than $2,900.
CBP officers seized the drugs and turned the three people over to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s Homeland Security Investigations.
