When the heat is sizzling like this, it’s time for the “Summer in the City” discount card.
Here are things to know about the annual card, which is available now:
- More than 130 local businesses in the greater downtown area are offering discounts to cardholders on purchases of food, drinks, clothing, retail, books, gifts, shows, lodging and tours.
- The discounts are valid during June, July and August in six downtown districts.
- There are no limits on the number of times you can use the card.
- You can hop on the modern streetcar, which connects five of the six participating districts: University of Arizona, Main Gate Square, North Fourth Avenue, Downtown Tucson and Mercado San Agustín.
- The sixth district is The Sunshine Mile on Broadway between Euclid and Country Club.
- The card costs $5, or $9 for two or $20 for five, with several other discount packages available. The biggest — $300 for 100 cards — is billed as a “corporate appreciation package.”
- There’s also an option for nonprofit organizations to sell the cards as a fundraiser.
