Halloween is right around the corner. Ready to get spooked?
Beyond the haunted stories, Tucson has many scary activities this time of the year: Nightfall, the Slaughterhouse, and lots of haunted corn mazes.
Plus, there are countless spots in Tucson that are said to be genuinely haunted — Hotel Congress, the Davis-Monthan Air Force Base, and the Santa Rita Hotel, just to name a few.
If you're into that sort of thing, you're in luck. Southern Arizona is also home to ghost tours, many of which go on year-round.
Here are a handful.
Colossal Cave — 16721 E. Old Spanish Trail

Rumor has it that Colossal Cave is haunted.
Visitors have apparently felt the presence of Frank Schmidt, who is credited as saving the cave. Others have smelled pipe tobacco smoke, which is something that Schmidt loved.
One employee said she once saw a man in an off-limits spot inside the cave, and when telling him to get out of the space, he didn't listen. And suddenly, he disappeared.
For Halloween, Colossal Cave is hosting a Halloween Howl, complete with haunted cave tours, on Oct. 26 and 27. There will also be many other family-fun festival activities.
Tucson Ghost Company — multiple locations

Ghostly tales, paranormal equipment, what more could you possibly ask for?
Tucson Ghost Company offers three different haunted experiences.
The first is the Tucson Ghost Tour, which is a walking tour through downtown Tucson.
There's also the Tucson Ghost Experience, which takes place at La Cocina ... where you're locked inside for two hours.
And then there's Tucson Haunts, which is a driving tour to six different locations — you know, in case you're too spooked to step out of your car.
Haunted stories include clothing being pulled on, seeing shadows in photos, hearing strange noises, and lots of other spooky stuff.

Old Bisbee Ghost Tour — multiple locations

There are a lot of opportunities for scares here — six to be exact.
Among them: paranormal experiences, haunted pub crawls, and a hunt of the Copper Queen Hotel. The tours range from super scary to family-friendly. Visit the website for more information.
Bisbee is packed with haunted stories. One of the most chilling is the story of a young boy named Billy who haunts the Copper Queen Hotel. It's said that he died in the San Pedro River and now haunts hotel guests because his mom used to be an employee there.
Supposedly, Billy enjoys playing with children who stay at the hotel.
Gunfighter and Ghost Tour — Tombstone, Ariz.

Yes, Tombstone is haunted.
As you can only imagine, Tombstone is a good spot for ghost tours.
During their tour, you'll have the chance to visit the 10 most haunted spots in the town, including the Bird Cage Theatre and the General Hospital. The tour also visits an intersection where more than 30 killings happened.
Spooky stories include one about a slaying that took place in front of the iconic O.K. Corral.
As for ghostly experiences, it's said that the Bird Cage Theatre is home to 26 ghosts. People have supposedly heard music and voices in the middle of the night. Ghosts of cowboys and sex workers have also been seen.
