Two men have been arrested in the killing of an employee and a customer during an armed robbery at a Tucson pawn shop, police said.
The attack happened about 2 p.m. Friday at Quick Trip Pawn on West Prince Road, east of Flowing Wells Road, Tucson police said in a news release.
A gunman walked into the shop and immediately opened fire on Anthony David Tarli, 47, an employee. Tarli fired back but was wounded, the release said. He died later at the hospital.
After shooting Tarli, the gunman grabbed several firearms that were on display.
Before fleeing, the gunman shot and killed Francisco Vejar, 49, a customer, the release said.
After killing Vejar, the gunman fled in a car driven by another man, police said.
Tucson police conducted a massive search for the gunman and getaway vehicle, sharing information about the attack with other law enforcement agencies, the release said.
Later Friday evening, police in Glendale located the getaway car at an apartment complex.
Several guns taken in the robbery were found during a search.
Police later arrested David Javier Maldonado, 44, and Amari Taivonne Harris, 23, in connection with the attack.
Both men were booked into the Pima County jail on suspicion of two counts of first-degree murder, aggravated robbery, armed robbery and robbery.
