Nearly 140 pounds of methamphetamine was seized this week by Border Patrol agents in the Tucson sector, authorities say.

Agents from the Casa Grande Station motorcycle unit on Monday were sent to an area near the Sierra Blanca Mountains after mobile surveillance showed suspected drug smuggling. Agents found three abandon backpacks containing nearly 106 pounds of methamphetamine.

Two days earlier, agents from the Ajo Station agents arrested a man walking near the US-Mexico border carrying a backpack filled with about 34 pounds of methamphetamine.
