Investigators are searching for a missing 22-year-old Tucson woman last seen in a remote area on the far northwest side over the weekend.
Melissa Mendez disappeared sometime between late Saturday and early Sunday morning, the Pima County Sheriff's Department says.
She was last seen in the area of the 24000 block of West Silverbell Road, northwest of Tucson near Ironwood Forest National Monument.

Mendez is described as 5-foot-7, 132 pounds, with brown hair and brown eyes. She was dressed in all black clothing the last time she was seen.
Police said it is believed that Mendez was involved in a collision in the area. She might have left the area on foot.

Detectives also are looking for the driver of a utility terrain vehicleΒ who assisted a male motorist in the area. The driver might have left a man at a Dollar General store in Redrock, authorities say.
