These two photos provided by the Arizona Attorney General’s Office are of Dr. Mehul P. Dixit. The photo on the left is from 2002 while the photo on the right is current. Dixit, who practiced pediatric nephrology at the Tucson Medical Center and the University of Arizona Health and Sciences Center in Tucson between 2000 and 2005, is the focus of an investigation of sexual conduct with a minor during the years he practiced here, the office says.

A former Tucson pediatrician is the focus of an investigation into alleged sexual misconduct with a minor, the Arizona Attorney General’s Office said in a news release.

Dr. Mehul P. Dixit, 60, a pediatric nephrologist who practiced at Tucson Medical Center and the University of Arizona Health and Sciences Center between 2000 and 2005, has been linked to alleged sexual contact with minors in Arizona, Florida and Mississippi, authorities say.

The Arizona Attorney General’s investigation started when the prosecutors learned of allegations involving Dixit’s practice in Tucson, according to the news release. It said the office is concerned there are potentially more victims here.

According to the Arizona Medical Board’s records, Dixit went to medical school at the University of Mumbai in Mumbai, India, and graduated in 1986. His residency was done in pediatrics from the Albert Einstein College of Medicine in the Bronx in New York from 1995 to 1996.

Dixit continued his fellowship at the same institution from 1996 to 1999, starting his practice in Arizona in 2000. Records show, his Arizona medical license expired in December 2005.

In May 2023, Dixit was charged in Mississippi with two counts of sexual battery or fondling of a vulnerable person in a case that involved two girls, a 13-year-old and 17-year-old.

Dixit was released from custody on a $300,000 bond. He also had his medical license suspended and was barred from having any contact with anyone under 18 years old, WAPT TV reported last year.

Dixit, who also possessed his Florida medical license from 2004 to 2015, also was linked to the alleged molestation of a 17-year-old Florida patient during an examination, Orlando’s WESH 2 News reported in July 2023, citing the Mississippi State Board of Medical Licensure.
