A federal judge in Tucson has sentenced a South Carolina man to 27 years in prison for taking a girl from Arizona for sex, authorities say.

Timothy Mikell Schultheis, 26, of Hilton Head, pleaded guilty in January to transportation of a minor with intent to engage in criminal sexual activity. He was sentenced May 28 by U.S. District Judge Rosemary MΓ‘rquez, according to a news release from the the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Arizona.

MΓ‘rquez also sentenced Schultheis to a lifetime of supervision, the news release said.

Schultheis, aka Jackson Oden, used social media to communicate with the girl and spoke of travel plans as well as his intention to engage in sexual conduct with her, the release said.

Schultheis drove to Safford from South Carolina to take her to his home, according to the release.

Schultheis was arrested March 30, at his South Carolina apartment. The girl was found inside.

Schultheis, who was arrested and released by South Carolina authorities on a different case involving a different 12-year-old, was wearing an ankle monitor during his offense, the release said.
