A woman who was shot and killed on Interstate 10 in Tucson last week charged at a trooper with a large knife in her hand, a graphic video released Friday by the state Department of Public Safety shows.

The video shows the unidentified trooper get out of his patrol vehicle to contact a woman who was walking on the interstate about noon on April 4, near the Park Avenue exit.

The woman, Robin Rae Budelli, 41, of Tucson, quickly pulls a knife from a large purse. She then raises the knife above her head and runs toward the trooper, the video shows.

The trooper grabs his gun and fires.

A graphic video released Friday by the state Department of Public Safety shows the moments leading to the fatal shooting of a Tucson woman walking on Interstate 10 last week. A trooper shot Robin Rae Budelli, 41, after she pulled a large knife from her purse and ran toward the trooper, the video shows.

The video then shows Budelli falling to the pavement.

The video has no audio, and Budelli's face is blurred. It ends immediately after Budelli falls to the pavement.

She died later at the hospital.

The trooper was not injured.

The state DPS continues to investigate.
