One man who was taken into custody Wednesday in connection to a bank robbery in the Catalina Foothills was identified as Jason Wells. A second suspect remains unidentified, authorities said Thursday night.

Wells, 49, was captured by law enforcement officers after a pursuit, chase and search of a midtown neighborhood for several hours Wednesday, said Deputy Ryan Inglett, a Pima County Sheriff's Department spokesman.

Wells was placed on the ground and paramedics treated him for injuries before he was questioned by detectives.Β

He was later booked into the Pima County jail on suspicion of armed robbery, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, kidnapping, unlawful use of means of transportation, and unlawful flight from law enforcement, Inglett said. Β  Β  Β

The search for the second suspect in the neighborhood was called off at 6:30 p.m. About three hours earlier that day, deputies responded to a report of a robbery at a Wells Fargo branch at East Sunrise and North Kolb roads. Deputies learned that a man walked into the branch and displayed a gun, Inglett said.

The man demanded money and left the branch with an undisclosed amount. He was wearing a disguise to include a safety vest, surgical mask and a wig, said Inglett.

A witness gave deputies a vehicle description used in the crime and deputies located the black Jeep Cherokee and pursued it, said Inglett. The vehicle, which was reported stolen, fled from deputies and it stopped near East Mabel Street and North Country Club Road, he said. Two men ran from the Jeep.

Tucson police officers and other law enforcement agencies helped in the search and capture of Wells.
