FBI training in Tucson and Oro Valley for federal, state and local law enforcement agencies will focus on child abductions.
Practical street exercises will begin Wednesday in Oro Valley's Rancho Vistoso community, and culminate with a mock abduction exercise on Friday near North La Cañada Drive and West Moore Road, said officials in a news release Monday.
Classroom training will be held at Tucson Police Department's Miracle Mile substation.
Participants will receive an overview of child sex offenders, understanding the behavior of child abductors and false allegations of abductions.
Law enforcement agencies will work with the Arizona Child Abduction Response Team, and participants will respond to incidents in Southern Arizona, officials said. More than 100 participants are representing15 agencies, and more than 40 volunteers are acting in roles during the exercises.
The federal agency's team, Child Abduction Rapid Deployment, is primarily involved in non-family, and ransom abductions. They also investigate mysterious disappearances of children.
The FBI team, which was created in 2005, has been deployed more than 100 times regarding 108 victims, said authorities.
Training has also been done in Texas, Nevada, Louisiana, Rhode Island, North Carolina and New Jersey, officials said.
