A 3-year-old boy was accidentally shot by a 7-year-old boy Monday afternoon on Tucson's southwest side, police said.

The injured child was taken to the hospital in serious condition, said Sgt. Kimberly Bay, a Tucson Police Department spokeswoman.

Officers responded to a report of a shooting shortly after 2:30 p.m. in the 1900 block of West Greenleaf Drive.

The neighborhood is in the Midvale Park subdivision, north of West Valencia Road and south of West Drexel Road.

No further information was immediately available.
