A 23-year-old man was found shot to death in a car in central Tucson shortly after midnight Tuesday, police said.
At about 12:45 a.m., officers went to the 700 block of East Pastime Road, near North First Avenue and East Prince Road, for reports of shots heard in the area, said Sgt. Pete Dugan, a TPD spokesman.
Police found a man who had been shot inside of a vehicle and immediately began rendering first aid, but he was pronounced deceased at the scene, Dugan said.
Because of the victim's gang affiliations, detectives with the gang unit were called out to the scene to speak to witnesses and collect evidence, Dugan said.
Although the gang unit is involved, it's still uncertain if the shooting itself was gang-related Dugan said.
The victim has been identified as Jacob Edward Luna.
No suspects are in custody and police are asking anyone with information to call 911 or 88-CRIME, an anonymous tipster hotline.
