Tucson firefighters responded to a south-side apartment complex after multiple reports of smoke and flames coming from one of the units at 2:33 p.m. Wednesday afternoon.
Fire crews arrived in three minutes to the Santa Cruz River Apartments on 851 West Ajo Way. They confirmed the reports and quickly began attacking the fire from the exterior, a department press release said.
Firefighters then made their way inside to complete their search for any additional flames. After the search, a fan was set up to help remove smoke from the unit.
A total of 10 apartment units were evacuated due to the fire and two tenants have been relocated within the complex.
It took 26 firefighters approximately 15 minutes to extinguish the fire, the release said. There were no reported injuries to the firefighters or residents.Β
As fire investigators continue their investigation, one possible cause of the fire may have been a candle.Β
