UPDATE: Tucson police make quick arrest in attempted kidnapping of 9-year-old girl
A man opened the window to a 9-year-old girl's bedroom early Sunday morning and tried to convince her to leave with him, Tucson police say.
A relative's screams alerted other family members and in the commotion the stranger ran away, Tucson police said in a news release Sunday.
Officers were called to the apartment in the 2400 block of North Dodge Boulevard, about 6:30 a.m. The complex is near East Grant Road and North Dodge Boulevard.
Family members told officers the man was talking to the girl through a window he had opened.
A family member, hearing the commotion, checked inside the room and began screaming and the man ran away.
The man is believed to be in his 40s and has a beard. He wore gray pants, a black shirt and a camouflage jacket. He also wore a red and black hat.
Anyone with information is asked to call 911.
