A woman carjacked at gunpoint this morning is safe but two armed suspects still are on the run with her vehicle, Tucson police said
Officers are seeking public help to locate a gray Mazda 3 four-door sedan with Arizona license plate number CFV2974, last seen traveling northbound near South Park Avenue and East Ajo Way.
The car's female driver was initially reported to be inside the vehicle with the carjackers when they left but police said she has since been located.
"The suspects are armed with a handgun and are considered armed and dangerous so we are asking people to call 911 if they see the vehicle and do not try to approach it," said Tucson Police Department Officer Chris Hawkins.
The carjacking occurred this morning at a small plaza near the northwest corner of Park Avenue and Ajo Way. The Mazda had two occupants at the time, but the carjackers forced out the passenger riding in the vehicle and kept the driver inside as they sped from the scene, police said.
Law enforcers across Southern Arizona are on the lookout for the vehicle, as is the Arizona highway patrol, he said.
