The leaves along E. Mount Lemmon Hwy, trails in the Santa Catalina Mountains and Summerhaven have started to change their colors during the fall season. For Star subscribers:Β An abandoned golf course could soon find new life as a nature preserve, with impressive views of the Catalina Mountains, βphenomenal native vegetation,β petroglyphs, walking trails and wildlife. First, though, community conservationists must raise $1.8 million in two months to buy it.Β
Mount Lemmon is bursting with color right now, though the leaves aren't quite at their peak yet. Head north of Tucson and into the Catalina Mountains for a taste of autumn.
A large storm system moving across the Western United States is expected to bring colder temperatures to the Tucson area.
