A woman was killed in this single-vehicle crash that happened about noon when the SUV went off of the interstate and crashed into a concrete pillar for the overpass at the Duval Mine Road exit in Sahuarita, a state DPS spokesman said.

A 59-year-old woman was killed Tuesday when the SUV she was driving smashed into an overpass support pillar on Interstate 19 south of Tucson.

The single-vehicle crash happened about noon when the SUV went off of the interstate and crashed into a concrete pillar for the overpass of the Duval Mine Road exit in Sahuarita, a state DPS spokesman said.

The driver, the sole occupant, was pronounced dead at the crash scene. Her name was not released Tuesday evening.

The state Department of Public Safety is investigating.
