On Nov. 9, 1963, the Tucson Citizen featured the El Encanto home of Tucson's mayor, Lew Davis, in the Home section.

The passion vine again frames this picture in the view of the patio and swimming pool from the balcony which opens off the master bedroom suite of the home. Palm trees and citrus flourish in the patio and a privet hedge bounds the area.

French provincial furniture is used in the formal dining room to the north of the informal sitting room. Draperies are in an imported fabric with a background of white and an appliquéd design of off-white, gray, black and pumpkin. Seats of the cane-backed dining chairs are in the same pumpkin shade.

Mrs. Davis and Mayor Davis discuss the day's happenings in one corner of the living room. Boucle casement draperies in natural colored linen are used at windows here as well as elsewhere in the home. Desert and sand tones are utilized in carpeting and furnishings.

The formal living room of the home is two-stories and in the background are stairs leading to the master suite above. The three-sectional sofa circles part of the room and to the left may be seen a built-in cabinet topped by a long planter. Coffee table is marble topped with a walnut base.

A passion vine climbs up to the balcony in the rear of the home of Mayor and Mrs. Lew Davis in El Encanto. This view gives the effect of the various levels of the home. A French flower cart holds pots of bright blossoms.

This sitting and music room is where the Davises spend much of their time. The framed Oriental head on the wall is a water color. Beyond may be seen an oil painting done in soft tones of blue on the living room wall.

Buffet and cabinets on the east wall of the informal sitting room are in a limed finish. A view of the kitchen may be seen beyond. Counter tops and sinks are stainless steel. Floors in the kitchen and sitting room are terrazzo.
