Larry Douglas (L) and Eddie Adams face drug-related charges after the Cochise County Sheriff’s Department says methamphetamine, marijuana, heroin and prescription pills were found during a stop of the vehicle they were riding Monday night.

Two Sierra Vista men recently released from prison are back behind bars after sheriff's deputies stopped them for a traffic violation and found illegal drugs in their vehicle.

Deputies made the arrests Monday evening at 7th and Carmelita Street after a drug-sniffing dog detected narcotics. A search of the vehicle, the driver and passenger turned up heroin, methamphetamine, marijuana, and prescription pills, a news release from Cochise County Sheriff's Office said.

The driver, identified as Larry Douglas, 30, was charged with six counts of possession of a dangerous drug, two counts of possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of a narcotic and evidence tampering.

A passenger, identified as Eddie Adams, 34, was charged with possession of a dangerous drug and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Both suspects were recently released from prison, and Adams was on parole, the sheriff's office said. Both were booked into the county jail after their arrests.

An investigation is continuing.
