Multiple calls have been received by the Cochise County Sheriff's Office for coyotes attacking livestock and running loose in residential neighborhoods, authorities said.
Coyotes have been killing livestock in the area, causing hardship for ranchers, which estimate the price of the animals at $900.
The Sheriff's Animal Control Division is working with the United States Department of Agriculture to address the issues community members are facing.
The coyotes have also been "feasting" on dogs and cats in the local areas looking for food in neighborhoods, a news release said.
The office cautions citizens to not feed the animals as they become accustomed to it and may become aggressive to humans who do not provide food.
"Please use caution when you observe any wildlife, and NEVER feed the animals. It is safer for you, your family, your friends, your pets, and mostly for the wildlife living among us," the Sheriff's office said in the release.
