Arizona freshman wing Rawle Alkins says he's declaring for the NBA Draft without hiring an agent, giving him until May 24 to return to school if he wants to.
Alkins attached a statement about his decision on Twitter, thanking his family coaches, teammates and fans.
"I put my entire heart and soul into this sport and feel like I can compete with the best," Alkins wrote. "I want to be sure that I am making the right decision, so after much thought and consideration, I have decided to declare for the 2017 NBA Draft without signing with an agent. #SAVAGELIFE."
Alkins becomes the second UA player testing the draft this spring along with Chance Comanche, though sophomore wing Allonzo Trier has not announced his intentions. Lauri Markkanen and Kobi Simmons are leaving irrevocably.
Alkins is a projected second-round pick in 2018 according to Draft Express, while NBADraft.net has him slipping into the first round next year, suggesting he might get one of the 60 invitations to the NBA Combine next month in Chicago.
Oregon's Dillon Brooks is also declaring for the NBA, and his move sounds like it's permanentΒ (though he doesn't mention an agent on his video).
