Two games into the NBA Summer League and second-year Memphis Grizzlies guard Kobi Simmons has raised some eyebrows.
On Tuesday, the former Arizona Wildcat scored 20 points and shot 8-of-18 from the field as the Grizzlies advanced to 2-0 in Salt Lake City after beating the Utah Jazz 95-92. Simmons, along with Wayne Selden, led the Grizzlies in scoring.
In a 103-88 win over the Atlanta Hawks on Monday, Simmons scored 21 points and shot 61.5 percent from the field, 2-of-3 from 3-point range in Trae Young's highly anticipated debut. Seventeen of Simmons' points came in the first half and he also tacked on three assists with two turnovers.
Simmons didn't commit any turnovers, but he finished Tuesday's game against the Jazz with zero assists. He grabbed five rebounds and a steal.
20 more for Kobi Simmons tonight. No assists, but scoring ability looks sharper in terms of creating, making shots. pic.twitter.com/HZsD5BXFmj

Simmons played most of last season with the Hustle, Memphis' G League affiliate. In the latter part of the season, Simmons was called up and averaged 20.1 minutes in 32 games. He recorded 6.1 points and 2.1 assists per game with the Grizzlies.
So far, so good for the ex-Wildcat. Simmons and the Grizzlies will play the San Antonio Spurs on Thursday at 4 p.m., for their final NBA Summer League game in Salt Lake City, which can be seen on NBA TV. After that, the Grizzlies will be in Las Vegas for the rest of summer league play.
